A collaboration between Wales, Cyprus, Malta and Spain and funded by Erasmus+.

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has been felt globally, affecting everyone, particularly children and young people. Schools were shut to pupils, leaving many young people stressed and concerned about their future. Pupils missed out on developing their confidence, language skills, relationships with friends and receiving support from teaching staff. This experience has impacted negatively on their emotional wellbeing.

We're working collaboratively with creative arts experts and teaching professionals in Spain, Malta, Cyprus & Wales to create lessons and activities that use a range of creative art forms to engage learners to express their feelings. We have trialed performance workshops in YGG Bryn Tawe and YGG Lon Las with Year 5 and Year 8 pupils. The purpose of the workshops is to encourage young people to explore their emotions in a non-direct way through mask work, a variety of drama games, mirroring and script work. The workshops also explore the vocabulary we use when discussing emotions, with a focus on the Welsh language. Confidence skills are also developed in these workshops.

In May 2022 we attended a Transnational Project Meeting in Paphos, Cyprus to meet our project partners. We received a warm welcome from the staff and pupils at 4th Primary School of Paphos and traditional dancing and songs were performed. We tried traditional food and took part in cultural activities - a visit to the Tombs of the Kings, the Archeological park of Kato Paphos and the old castle of Paphos.

We headed to Castellón in Spain in June 2022 to meet up with our project partners to explore the progress of the project. We attended a Transnational Project Meeting at IES Ribalta High School, one of the partner schools. During the meeting we had an update from each country and we shared the activities that we had been trialling with young people on how to recognise, express and deal with their feelings.

During the trip we visited Valencia and had a historical tour of the city. We also attended a music concert at Universidad de Castellón UJI. Here's a video of what we got up to.
